Singapore has demonstrated its zero-tolerance approach to vaping and drug misuse with landmark enforcement actions involving teenagers. A 16-year-old Singaporean male has become the first person admitted to a drug rehabilitation center for etomidate abuse since the substance was classified as a Class C controlled drug. He faces a two-month detention after being caught three times for offenses related to etomidate, a substance often found in illicit vape pods.
In a separate case, a 15-year-old Myanmar national became the first foreigner to have her long-term visit pass revoked under the enhanced anti-vaping framework effective since September 1st. She was discovered with an e-vaporizer pod containing etomidate during a routine police check. Authorities warn that foreigners caught possessing or using etomidate vapes, or testing positive for the drug, face deportation and a ban on re-entering Singapore. These actions underscore the severe consequences for vaping-related offenses in the city-state.
