Russia Targets Full Vape Ban by August 2025

The Russian State Duma intends to completely ban vapes by the beginning of August 2025, according to Alexander Kozlovsky, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Industry and Trade. He stated that a consensus on this issue has been reached among deputies and the government.

The legislative bill for the vape ban is planned for adoption during the current parliamentary session, which concludes on August 3rd. Kozlovsky highlighted a common misconception among many Russians, including teenagers, who view vapes as a harmless alternative to cigarettes without realizing their actual dangers. "Children smoke them right in front of their parents, which speaks to a misunderstanding of the scale of the threat," he noted.

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin previously affirmed that deputies would support such a ban if the government introduces the initiative. Sergey Leonov, Head of the Health Protection Committee, also added that parliament would work towards a swift resolution. This united front follows Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov's recent, somewhat unexpected, support for the Ministry of Health's vape ban initiative.
